This Privacy policy governs the processing of information during your use of the application “FuWeather” (“Application”, “App”) that was created and is maintained by ZsuiwaL Lawiusz Fras, located in Poland, Sienkiewicza street 23/3, 74-240 Lipiany, VATIN: PL8531522563 (“ZsuiwaL”, “I”, “me”).
“Processing” means using cookies on a computer/handheld device or using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, transferring, combining, and disclosing information.
In this Privacy policy it is said about transferring data to third-party companies. You will find the list of those companies, along with links to their privacy policies, in a further part of this document.
What kinds of information are processed? What are the purposes of the processing? Is the information shared with third parties?
While you are using various functions of the App, different types of data are processed. I share some of the information with my trusted partners. You can find the list of my partners and links to their privacy policies further in this document. Below are the definitions of those kinds of data, which need some special clarification:
- Your real location – this is information about where you are. The information may be obtained from various sources, like the IP address of your device, GPS position, Wi-Fi access points nearby, Bluetooth beacons in your vicinity, cell towers around you, etc.,
- Information about your device – includes data like your operating system version, manufacturer and model of your device, screen dimensions and resolution, installed and available random-access memory and mass storage, battery state, availability and type of internet connection, rooting status, data from the device’s sensors (e.g., accelerometer, compass), language, Google Play Services version.
- Information about the App and its usage, which means e.g., how often and how long you use it, which kinds of functions you use, your approximate location (country, region, city), language in the App, frequency and types of encountered errors in the App, the source from which you obtained the App (Google Play Store or some other store), version of the App.
- Pseudonymous user identifiers – these are random sequences of characters (letters, digits, special characters), which the App generates during your first launch of the App or at any other point of your use of the app. The identifiers are to distinguish the users of the App.
These definitions above are valid for this entire document, unless otherwise specified. The list above does not include every type of processed information. In cases and for purposes specified below, I collect and process other kinds of data:
1. While you use the App, it locally (only on your device) processes some Information about your device and Information about the App and its usage. This is technically necessary for proper operation of the Application and to provide you all the App’s functions. For example, the App needs to know your screen dimensions and resolution to correctly display on your device. Knowledge about your operating system version is required for the app to properly provide features whose availability varies across different operating system versions. Data from your device’s sensors is used to appropriately update the user interface (e.g., respond to rotation) or provide a dynamic wind bearing indicator. As far as the data is used for the aforementioned purposes, it does not leave your device, which does not exclude its further processing for other purposes described below.
2. When the App downloads new weather data, there takes place processing of the following information:
- Your location – it is your real location if you permit the app to access your location, automatic location is enabled in the App’s settings (it is by default), and you download the weather data for your current location and not for any of the additional locations you can add in the App. If any of these conditions is not met, the location processed is your selected location, which may or may not be your current location. The purpose of processing your location is to download weather data for your selected place.
- Your IP address – it is technically required for downloading weather data (and any other information) through the internet.
That information is then encrypted and transferred through a secure channel to my weather data providers (encryption does not include your IP address, which due to the limitations of communication protocols, cannot be encrypted; this rule applies to this whole document). The basis for processing of that data is ensuring the App’s basic functionality and, in case of your real location, your consent which you give by granting the App location permission. You can withdraw your consent by disabling the auto location in the App’s settings, revoking the App the location permission, or uninstalling the App.
3. If you decide to sign up for an optional account in the App (for sharing your ideas with other users of the App), the following information is processed:
- Your e-mail address,
- The username you take,
- The password you choose,
- Pseudonymous user identifiers,
- Your IP address.
The information is collected to provide the user account functionality in the App. The data is, after prior encryption, transmitted to a database provider, which is responsible for maintaining the accounts and storing your custom content. The basis for processing the data is both your consent, which you give by registering your account in the App and providing the account functionality. You can withdraw your consent by sending a declaration to one of the following e-mail addresses: [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected]. The declaration should contain information that you would like to withdraw your consent to processing the data related to your account in the App, or that you would like to remove your account (both options are equivalent). Once I receive your declaration, I’ll stop processing the aforementioned data and remove the already collected information along with your account in the Application. Your declaration has to be sent from the e-mail address you used during registration in the App so that I could verify the authenticity of your request. If you used a Google account during the registration, send the e-mail from the e-mail address of that Google account.
4. If the App displays advertising (“ads”), the following information is processed:
- Information about your device,
- Your IP address.
Processing of these kinds of data is technically necessary to display ads in the App. The processing takes place as long as the ads are served, regardless of whether you opted-in to ad personalization, as described below. The information is securely transferred to ad networks, which provide the ads.
Serving ads helps me to compensate the costs of the App’s operation and maintenance, and allows further development of the App. Thanks to this technology, I can keep most Application’s functionalities free of charge. All of this is my legitimate interest.
In addition, if you consent in the App to ad personalization, some other information will be processed:
- Your real location,
- Your Advertising ID.
Once you give the aforementioned consent, which is the basis for processing the above data, the information is combined, encrypted, transferred to ad networks, and used for automatic profiling. This allows to serve you more relevant ads. You can withdraw your consent by disabling personalized ads in the App’s settings, which will cease the processing of the information, and will result in displaying less relevant ads.
If you are a premium user (that is, you have either subscribed to a paid premium plan or purchased a perpetual premium unlock), this section does not apply to you, as no ads are displayed to premium users. In that case, no data is processed for advertising purposes.
5. If you consent to use Quadrant technology, the following data will be processed:
- Your real location,
- Your Advertising ID,
- Information about your device,
- Your IP address.
The Quadrant company, along with their trusted partners, use that information for analytical, research and marketing purposes, whereas I receive a financial gratification, which allows me to partially compensate the costs of your use of the App. The basis of the processing of this information is your consent, which you can grant in the App, and which you can withdraw in the App’s settings, by disabling the Quadrant technology. You’ll find the link to Quadrant’s privacy policy in a further part of this document. Their policy contains a list of their trusted partners, which may receive the aforementioned information.
6. Additionally, while the App is running, the following data is collected:
- Information about the App and its usage,
- Information about your device,
- Estimated demographic information (age range, gender),
- Pseudonymous user identifiers,
- Your IP address.
The information is, after prior encryption, transmitted to my analytics and diagnostics service provider.
I use this data to understand the users’ behavior, preferences, how many people use the app, where the users come from, which devices they use the Application on etc. This allows me to constantly improve the Application so that it becomes as good as possible for as many users as possible. Moreover, I use this information to detect and resolve any problems with the App.
All of this is my legitimate interest. Moreover, when I use this information to detect and solve problems with the Application, the basis for data processing is to provide you with a properly functioning Application.
7. If you contact me through e-mail, I will process your e-mail address and everything you include in your message. Further, if you use the built-in contact option provided with the App, the following diagnostic information will be processed:
- Your real location (possibly including past locations),
- Information about the App and its usage,
- Information about your device.
Processing this information is necessary for me to respond to your message and to help you resolve any possible issues with the App.
The Application may collect all the data even when it’s closed or not in use (e.g., when it downloads weather data in the background for the home-screen widget).
Which third-parties receive the data collected by the App?
